Welcome to Weston Point Community Primary School
At Weston Point we aim to nurture the all round development of every pupil. In order to achieve this, we set out to:
- create a secure, happy, caring environment, where children and staff can develop their full potential, intellectually, physically and spiritually, having equal opportunities and receiving an education of quality suited to their specific need.
- treat each child as an individual, recognising his/her achievement and rewarding success.
- endeavour to foster the child's confidence in his/her abilities and enable them to adopt skills and strategies to become, where practicable, independent learners.
- encourage the concepts of fair play and fair mindedness.
At Weston Point we aim to provide a lively, stimulating curriculum in which the children are given a firm grounding in the basic skills of literacy and numeracy and having access to the National Curriculum and its assessment. In so doing, we endeavour to extend the child's perceptive and creative skills. Our teaching of the core subjects is directed through the outlines of the Literacy and Numeracy Strategies, and specific Science teaching. The foundation subjects are taught, initially, through an imaginative cross-curricular approach, becoming more subject based as the child progresses through the school, and providing as many first hand experiences as possible.
We foster a partnership between the school and the wider the community, encouraging respect for the environment. This partnership is also vital in the working together of staff, parents and governors for the benefit of the children.
We are a school that likes to celebrate success – at every level. The life of the school is driven by enthusiasm and a desire to achieve. We aim to bring learning alive, making it exciting and stimulating. We want to give our children a thirst for learning that continues with them throughout their future school experiences and lives. An essential ingredient for this to happen is teamwork. We view education as a joint venture, involving everyone – children, parents, staff, Governors and the wider community. We hope that we will be able to depend on your co-operation and support in this partnership, hoping that together we can provide the best for every child.
